Powerlily meeting
Some powerful women in powersports at the first Powerlily meeting held at AimExpo in Orlando, Florida 2015. I’m the one on the left full of nervous excitement. Such an awesome day!

MIC logoIn October 2015 the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) announced that they would be having a competition for PowerLily members. Powerlily is a professional network for women in powersports.  The PowerLily “Gas Tank” program will give members an opportunity to present their business plan for a new powersports-related innovation, product or service live in front of influential industry business leaders at AIMExpo 2016 in Orlando, Florida.

In February 2016 Gas Tank applications were to be reviewed by a team at MIC and if the application was accepted you would be paired with a powersports industry mentor in order to prepare a business plan and presentation.

cropped-text-logo-maroon-black-1.pngThis was just what I needed, help to get my ideas in front of the right people.

“My gears were turning and ideas were forming and the concept of Modern Moto Magazine was born.  A fashion-centric motorcycle magazine, ready to change the way we see motorcycle gear.”

I submitted my application and video submission to MIC.  It was reviewed and I was accepted into the program and teamed with a mentor.  My crazy dream has viability, and I am beyond excited to move forward.  As fate would have it, the mentor I was paired with was a perfect match. Mary Green has extensive experience as an editor and publisher for powersport publications, I could not have asked for better.

It is exciting to be chasing my dream of truly being a part of the motorcycle industry and make a difference in the lives of riders around the world.  So, I ask you to please join me on this journey with Modern Moto Magazine, I’ll be posting updates every step of the way.   The next step is to submit a complete business plan to the MIC by the end of June 2016. Then by August, they will announce the finalists who will make live presentations of their plans at AIMExpo 2016.  Clutch and brake fingers crossed!

If you have  two and half minutes to kill, check out the video that helped me earn a spot in stage one of the program 🙂
